STORIES OF SON ISLET – DAY TRIP

Morning:

HaiAu Educursions’ vehicle and tour guide will pick up the group at the meeting point to begin the exploration of “STORIES OF SON ISLET.”

Visit Mr. Bay Bon’s fish cage farm—the gateway to Son Islet. Here, students will tour the Hau River Fisheries Information Center, which provides visitors with information and displays 3D models of the typical fish species found in the Hau River. The fish cages preserve many characteristic and rare fish species from the Hau River and the Mekong River.

Experience a fish spa massage on the river.

The group then moves onto the islet and stops at Ms. Be Bay’s garden house—a living space of a large three-generation family. Here, the students will have exciting experiences such as:

• Listen to a sharing session about making Phu The cake—a prize-winning delicacy recognized as the best cake in Southern Vietnam. This cake is made from local ingredients combined with traditional methods, creating a truly irresistible treat. A special feature of this cake is that it is wrapped in coconut leaves, which are skillfully crafted into beautiful frames. After learning about and tasting the Phu The cake, students will have the opportunity to try making a cake box from coconut leaves under the guidance of a skilled artisan.

  Leaving the folk cake space, students will experience traditional Nam Bo amateur music (dan ca tai tu). They will listen to an artisan sing a song rich in Southern Vietnamese style. Then, each group will receive a song lang—a traditional percussion instrument—and the artisan will guide them in singing a folk song (bai ly) combined with playing the song lang.

Noon:
Take on the challenge of making Banh Khot (mini savory pancakes), then enjoy lunch at the garden house, savoring the dishes you’ve just made. Rest and relax on-site.

Afternoon:
Participate in a medicinal plant planting activity at the garden. Each group will receive seedlings or seeds and plant them under the guidance of local gardeners. Upon completing the planting, groups will receive a gift of delicious traditional cakes to enjoy at Cong Minh garden house.

After the activities, the tour guide will wrap up the trip by summarizing valuable lessons learned from the journey, followed by a group photo with the visitors and local residents of Son Islet.

At the end of the day, HaiAu Educursions’ vehicle and guide will see the group off, with a warm farewell and hopes to meet again on future journeys!
