1,700 visitors accompanied HAEC to Con Son at the beginning of 2025 as part of the program in which students participated in the project “For a Prosperous Son Islet in the Future”. The students took part in activities evaluating the Net Zero compliance criteria of households currently operating in the tourism sector under the Son Islet Agricultural Tourism Cooperative.
The survey results will serve as a foundation for future contribution projects to Son Islet. Additionally, the students’ feedback provided valuable suggestions to local farmers for developing tourism products and for methods to limit or reduce waste emissions during tourism activities.
Exciting experiential activities at Son Islet.
Through a variety of activities — including visiting fish farms and learning about the characteristics of fish in the Mekong River, making traditional “phu the” cakes and wrapping them in sâm leaves, and preparing “banh la mit” (jackfruit leaf cakes) — students had the opportunity to visit local households, experience daily life, and immerse themselves in the rhythm of the Son Islet community.
These experiences allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of how local tourism is operated, and how residents are making daily efforts to minimize the environmental impact of tourism on the local ecosystem. Based on this, students were able to provide objective assessments of the current situation and identify potential opportunities to help transform Sơn Islet into an eco-friendly destination.
