From late February through March 2025, around 1,700 teachers and students from the Vietnam Australia International School (VAS) participated in the engaging and creative program “Can Tho – Road to Net Zero.”
This journey of discovery, organized by Haiau Educursions, was designed around the natural and cultural resources unique to Can Tho.
Previously, VAS students had also taken part in another version of the Net Zero journey in the sunny and windy land of Ninh Thuan through the program “NINH THUAN – ROAD TO NET ZERO,” which offered its own set of exciting experiential activities.

The idea behind the “Road to Net Zero” series was shaped by several key factors, with important themes including local cultural heritage, natural resources, and the environment.
Both Haiau Educursions and VAS share a common goal: to create meaningful experiences that enable young people to engage with, learn about, and actively contribute to social causes—particularly environmental protection.

Student Le Van Duc Phat (Ho Chi Minh City) shared:
“During the journey, what impressed me the most was Mr. Bay Bon’s fish cage. There, he taught us a lot about fish and how to protect them. From what he shared, I understood the environmental protection messages behind tourism activities.”
Student Duong Hoang Minh Phuc (Ho Chi Minh City) added:
“Listening to Mr. Bay Bon’s stories helped me learn more about different fish species and ways to protect the environment. Because of that, I will avoid catching small fish and use products made from environmentally friendly materials.”
Meanwhile, student Nguyen Tuan Kiet (Ho Chi Minh City) expressed his admiration for Ms. Ban Xieu Tien’s hammock-making craft:
“I like her work because the banana fiber she uses is very eco-friendly, biodegradable, and doesn’t produce much emissions.”
Ms. Ban Xieu Tien said:
“When I demonstrated to the students, I wanted to introduce them to the old crafts of our ancestors. In the past, materials around the house like banana leaves and coconut fibers were commonly used to make everyday items. This hammock, woven from banana fibers, may look simple but it’s very sturdy. Banana fiber is very environmentally friendly, easy to decompose, and can be turned into nutritious fertilizer for plants.”
